Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Stormy barns

I knew a weather front was coming through yesterday afternoon…

Sun still shining on the corn, but dark skies overhead.

…so I headed out to see if I could find some open sky to watch…

White barns glow under rain clouds.

…and if there happened to be some barns around….

Red, green and navy.

…well, so much the better.

An old homestead buried back there.

Guess I got lucky – to the South of me were puffy white clouds…

Still pretty to the south.

…to the North was the storm with brooding dark skies…

Still pretty

…and distant thunder.

Not a barn, but interesting anyway.

It was all oh so pretty.

Amazing sky.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. I had to look twice at the one you said had a buried farm!! Wow, that was cool! And now you’re making me homesick for my sis in Michigan. ❤

    Great photos!

  2. Great photos – we had rumbles of thunder yesterday but the rain went around us – north and south. I went swimming and cooked dinner, looks like you made better use of your thunder. Keep adventuring – it keeps us alive.

    • Thanks! We got rain, but not that much. It only rained on my adventure for a few minutes. I’m sure farmers wished there was more. On the other hand, friends of mine only 30 miles away got swamped with rain.

  3. We have had a lot of nearby storms and tons of humidity that is unusual for here

    • Me too. I was actually driving down a road to find a place to turn around to get a different shot I had seen when I saw this one as I went by. Had to turn around and get this, and THEN turn around again to go back to the original shot, which turned out not to be nearly as good as this one.

  5. You’re brave to take a camera out when the sky looks that threatening! We had some heavy rain yesterday, but the front still hasn’t passed so we’re waiting on the cooler, less humid air. These are some lovely shots, though.

  6. So much drama in the skies. I also love the sunken red barn – kind of a nostalgic scene.

  7. love the barns on the backdrop of those skies. It always amazes me when I see brooding clouds in one direction and blue skies and white puffy clouds in another. Great views

  9. I agree with your closing statement but the red barn may have known better days but is now giving better views via the lens
